Scottish Single Stick

Tournament style: Single Stick
Victory: strike opponent on head
strike opponent on torso
a strike to any limb
Combattants will fight to the best of 5 bouts.
After a combattant looses 2 rounds, they will be removed from the tournament.
Double kills will not be counted
Disallowed: grappling
striking with the body
blows to the knee or lower on the leg
blows to the groin
use of excessive force
striking with the flat, guard, or pommel, of the
sword
arguing with the marshal
dishonorable behavior (discression of the marshal)
- performing a disallowed technique, accidentally or not will result in a warning and a loss of that bout. If another disallowed technique is used, you will be removed from the tourney.
-the marshal will call hold after each victory and explain
-blows must land solidly; glancing or strikes that merely touch the opponent will not be counted
-double kills will be counted as double losses
-if a combatant falls over, they will be allowed to stand
-if a combatant is disarmed, they will be allowed to regain their weapon
-if a combatant is pressed against the list ropes, the marshal may stop the combat and have combatants recenter
-if the marshal cries "hold", combatants must freeze where they are. Any blows landed after the hold call are not counted
-combatants may call blows on themselves. They may not call blows on their opponent
-if a piece or armour or a weapon breaks and it can be fixed or replaced quickly (marshal's discression), the combatant may do so, otherwise the round is forfeit

Armour requirements: Fencing mask with back of the head protection of at least leather
Padded gambeson
elbow and knee cops
gloves
cup suggested for males

weapon specs: Weapons will be provided
Purple heart armoury leather baskets and 3/4" x 40" rattan staves
