Cut and Thrust Rapier Tournament

Tournament style: duel
Victory: cut, or thrust opponant on head, throat or torso
-Pommel or hilt strike to face
-A cut or thrust to the groin, though this action is strongly discouraged
Other Conditions:Cut or thrust to opponants limb - limb unable to be used. Arms will be put behind the back. Legs will have no weight placed upon them.
-A cut or thrust to a hand will render the hand unusable, but the arm itself may still be used.
- Each round will be the best of 5 bouts - after combatant looses 2 rounds
they will be out of the tournament
-double kills will not be counted and bout must be refought
-grappling, striking with pommel
or guard WILL BE ALLOWED
-blows must land solidly ie: not touching or glancing, but should also not be of excessive force
-if combatant falls over, the fight DOES NOT STOP
-if both combatants fall to the ground, a hold will be called and the combatants will be stood up and recentered
-if combatant is disarmed, THE FIGHT DOES NOT STOP! They may attempt to regain thier weapon
-if a combatant is pressed against list ropes, marshall may stop
bout and re-center
-If "hold" is called by anyone..fight will stop and no blows
landing after the call will count
-Combatant may call well struck blows on themself, but not on opponent
-if a piece of armor or weapon breaks a hold will be called and if it can be
fixed or replaced quickly (discression of the marshal)the combatant may do so,
otherwise the round is forfit
Disallowed: Striking an opponents leg 2" above the knee or lower
-punching, kicking, kneeing or elbowing
-striking with the flat of sword
-arguing with marshal
-dishonorable behavior (marshal's discretion)
Armor Requirements:
-fencing mask with leather or double layer of
broadcloth to protect the back of the head
-gorget of 18ga steel or the equivilant
-fencing jacket made of leather or double layer of
broadcloth. Triplette jackets or double layer broadcloth tunics
are ok for body ( chest and under arm area must be
protected with extra layers if wearing garb-type gear)
-soft elbow and knee pads
-hockey gloves or equivilant hand protection
-Cup for males
- Solid chest protection suggested for females
Weapons: Each combatant may use only a single, one handed weapon in each bout
Blade length can be upto 48"
-Overall weapon length may not exceed 58"
Sharp points, edges or corners are not allowed
Blade must be able to safely withstand combat stresses
Blades must be capped with a flat rubber, plastic or leather cap at least 3/8" in diameter
Blades must be reasonably flexible
Blades with kinks, sharp bends or cracks will not be
allowed
Handguards on weapons may have no sharp corners or edges.
All blades will be inspected by the Marshal - who's
ruling is final
