Marshal Regulations

All marshals must be at least 18 years of age.
All marshals must be a member of the IACL in good standing.

Marshals must be certified by the Marshalate.
There are two levels of Marshal, Head Marshal and Secondary Marshal.
The responsibility of the Head Marshal:
Inspect all armour and weapons before the tournament.
To be the final word on all tournament rulings.
To be responisble for the saftey of all combattants, crew and spectators.
To ensure the quality of all Secondary Marshals involved in judging the tournament.
To submit the results of the tournament no more than 30 days after the end of the tournament.
To be certified a Head Marshal you must:
Know the armour requirements
Know the weapon specs
Know the various tournament rules, even though a specific tournament or tournaments might not be held by thier local group.
Must demonstrate an ability to make hard fast and fair decisions in a tournament environment.
Must act as a secondary marshal at least once in the presence of an authorised Head Marshal, even if the bouts being regulated are for marshalate certification only.

This means that to become a certified Head Marshal you must marshal at bouts being presided over by a Head Marshal. We understand that this will be difficult at this stage of the organization but since Marshalling is of the utmost importance in the League we have to make sure of ability of the Head Marshal. We will do what we can to make becoming a head marshal as easy as possible, since the more head marshals we have, the more tounraments can be held!

The responsibility of the Secondary Marshals:
To be aware of the armour requirements and weapon specifications and be able to tell when they are lacking.
To be able to make quick and honest rulings during a tournament bout
To know the rules of the tournaments being held.
To help keep all combattants, crew and spectators safe
To be certified a Secondary Marshal:
Must be able to demonstrate your responsibilities to the Head Marshal.

It is suggested that marshals have the experience of being a combattant in a tournament at least once so that they may understand what it is like.
