Lance Equestrian Tourney

Competition will consists of 2 rounds including a Shield/Quintain round, and a Ring Tilt.
All games will be performed with a 9 foot lance made of 1 1/4" hardwood round dowel (available at Home Depot) capped with a copper end cap on the strikeing end -with a hand grip no more than 2 feet from butt end of the lance.

Shield & Quintain Round
This round will run as individual rounds:
Shields: 3 onside shields (shield size 8" wide by 12" tall) in each lane. The competitor will attempt to knock over all six shields in 1 lap around the list. Each shield knocked over by a lance strike will count for 2 points. The competitor must hit the target with the tip of the lance in a forward motion, keeping the target in front of the lance and the rider, at impact. No verticle strikes will count.
Quintain: on the second lap of this round, the quintain must be struck with a cross body lance strike. The target will be presented 2/3 the way down the list, each spin will count as a point.
The competitor must keep moving for the entire 2 laps, Walk/trot is acceptable, However, each obstacle must be acheived at a canter for the points to count

Points:
Shields:If a competitor hits all six shields 12 points may be obtained.
Quintain: Each spin will count as a point.

Ring Tilt Round
The Ring Tilt will run as individual rounds. The competitor has 8 crossbody targets in all. 4 - 2 inch rings and 4 - 4 inch rings. The competitor will start at one end of the list and complete two full laps of the list field. Each 2 inch ring aquired will gain the competitor 2 points while each 4 inch ring will gain them 1. Each red dot represents a ring target. The competitor must keep moving for the entire 2 laps, walk trot is acceptable However, each target must be obtained at a canter to count.
