Swords don't run out of ammo
Classes

There are lots of ways to get involved with the AKA (Acadamy of Knightly Arts), but the easiest is to just try it! Your first class is free and we will provide you with the neccessary equipment. Check out the course of study below, then read more about the AKA Curriculm.

Jeremy is also available for private lessons, presentations and seminars. He can also put on the most memorable birthday party your child will evet have! Just call for details.

 

Novice Level

In this introductory course you will be introduced to the basics of the Fiore technique we study. You will learn basic footwork and body mechanics, and begin to learn to apply them to basic guards and attacks.

Gear requirements: Academy of Knightly Arts tee-shirt and a light sword (both purchased with registration)

The Scholar Levels

Elephant

Learn: Basic attacks, defenses and how the body works to deliver maximum effect. Sparring principles of unarmoured combat. Timing and distance.

Required gear: Medium sword or waster.

Recommended gear: Fencing mask, hand protection of at least hockey gloves, cup (for males), modified shinai sword. Serious students should be looking into purchasing medieval replica armour and a steel rebatted sword. We can help advise you as you progress.

Lynx

Learn: We look in depth at the postas and thier uses of time and distance. We beging to study the long plays of Fiore. We delve into offline footwork and attacks.

Required gear: Gambeson

Recommended gear: Fencing mask, hand protection of at least hockey gloves, cup (for males), gorget, knee and elbow protection. Aluminum waster. Serious students should be looking into slowly purchasing medieval replica armour and a steel rebatted sword.

Tiger

Learn: We put down the swords and enter the world of wrestling and dagger fighting.

Required gear: Dagger waster and combat dagger. Fencing Mask, street hockey gloves.

Recommended gear: The gear from the previous level - The student should have most by now. Serious students should be looking into slowly purchasing medieval replica armour and a steel rebatted sword.

Lion

Learn: we go over sword in one hand and then Fiore's short plays.

Required gear: Fencing mask, hand protection of at least hockey gloves, cup (for males), gorget, knee and elbow protection. Aluminum waster.

Recommended gear: Serious students should be looking into slowly purchasing medieval replica armour and a steel rebatted sword.

Crown

Required gear: Steel armour/ helmet and steel rebatted sword
Using all that has come before and learning Fiore's armoured combat,
including poleax.
